Default individual blocks HUG(s) for The Red Lake Memorial Quilt Project

Dreamweaver asked me to coordinate people that want to help with this
effort but are unable to come up with a completed quilt, which is kind
of my case. So I will be the recipient of stray blocks and I will put
them together into a top.

Colours and patterns are up to you, but it would be nice if they go
together - one idea is using the colours of the Medicine Wheel
white/yellow/red/black/green/blue, or patterns involving stars, flowers,
nature, and animals-especially Turtle/Buffalo/Eagle/Bear which are
traditional. I am leaning towards making simple apliques with cutouts of
these animals... which could alternate with pieced star blocks in the
colours Dreamweaver suggested.. what do you guys think? It's just an
idea. Maybe we can make them 9" instead of the usual 6" so they go
together more quickly.

Deadline is Sept. 1st so end of July would be good for having the blocks
in my hands.

Let me know if you are still interested. You can email me at

or

There's a memorial quilt project going on? *shudder* I still have bad
memories of the Internet Memorial Quilt for Oklahoma City. I sincerely
hope this one works out more... amicably.

Thank you, Marissa. I saw the earlier appeal and would have participated
but an entire quilt just wasn't possible for me. Here's the usual question -
when you say 9", are you meaning 9 and 1/2 inches for mailing to you? Polly

My eyes are giving me fits so bad today, that I can't see the little
close up work well enough to do the hand stitching. So, I am working
on Hug blocks. I'd like to go ahead and do this one today, but I also
still need an address to send it?

And here I thought my 'requirements' were very loose.... I can probably
fit anything in. What did you have in mind?

I would be glad to help, but I need more information on what is trying to be
done first.
also do the blocks have to be appliqués, I haven't yet gave that a go yet,
and I am not comfy in doing so at this time.

The orphan blocks I had that I need to donate are too big - the wrong
color - pieced - and wrong "theme". I am going to give them to the RCTQr
who has a neighbor with stage IV cancer. Haven't received a snail mail addy
yet tho. Can the person who is coordinating this hug send me the address
where I can ship these blocks.

A quilt is being made for the Red Lake Community. See the other posts
from Dreamweaver. Since I did not feel I could contribute with a whole
quilt, which is what she requested, I figured I could make one from
blocks from people that felt the same way.

I think I was unclear about the blocks, I was thinking of making some
animal aplique ones MYSELF and combine them with blocks sent my other
people in the ng to make a quilt, maybe in the colours Dreamweaver
suggested.
