Default Tack Welders

I just looked at a magazine article in which a person used an ABI Tack
II machine to tack weld many small parts in place before soldering them.
Sure made binding wire look like something from the dark ages. And it
also seemed to open doors for some design possibilities that I'd never
even consider without such a capability.

Obviously, it would take a lot of use to pay back the investment, but
looking at all the time I spend trying to keep things in place before
and during soldering, it looks like it would be a substantial time saver.

Would appreciate any comments from folks who use a tack welding machine,
and whether they use it more for positioning pieces, or for actually
making a finished weld. And whether the higher power models are that
much more useful at their bench.

Thanks in advance.
