Anyone know of a source of gilding metal in the UK?

Depends on what spec you want.
guilding metal can vary from 90/10 to 80/20 Cu/Zn. there are a no of
stockists, the best known is Smith's of Clerkenwell, tho there now based
I think in the Midlands. youll need to find a depot near you. Not cheap
tho. If you order it fully annealed They say its fully annealed but ive
always found it to be half hard. sheet size is 2ft by 4ft.
If your not fussed about colour then a 70 /30 is much easier to get hold
of. Depends on the thickness you need. If youve got a rolling mill then
you can take a thicker stock and mill it down.
If you need to anneal often youll find that it dezincifies and goes a
copper colour. you can get it back by using bright dip.
