Beautiful! You did a great job on this one. And how was the cruise?

Right before DH and I left on our cruise, I finished a quilt I'd been
working on. I used 100-wt. silk thread for most of the quilting, and I
really like this stuff! It melts right into the fabric for a subtle
effect. I also used some metallic thread to quilt over the metallic
accents in the fabric.

Have I mentioned lately that I love Lemoyne stars and feathered stars
based on the Lemoyne star? G

You can see the quilt and a detail of the quilting at

you like.

Thanks, Marcella. The cruise was very nice, except for the first two
rather rough days. After that, it was gorgeous!

I missed the original post, but followed a reply to see your feathered star
quilt. Awesome!
I'm working on a dark background quilt for DS1 and SDIL. I love the bright
colours on the dark background.

Heidi -- Thank you for catching up! I had printed out the photo of
Sandy's feathered African star and shown it to a friend. Then I
couldn't remember whose it was or where it was. And then your reply
showed up!! (That's eerie. . . .)

Sandi -- Is there a pattern or something? Or a resource? I think I'm
about to order Marsha McCloskey's feathered star book. I just love
finding an excuse to use borderprints. I loved using them for clothing
too. I think your use of the dark background is what "makes" the
quilt. Gosh, this is at least the second time I've gushed over that
same quilt. If I ever get myself from Reno to Las Vegas, I'd love to
be able to see the quilt in person.

Kay, I hope I haven't taken too long to answer your question. I've been
sort of MIA for the past couple of weeks with computer problems. I
bought a new, gorgeous MacBook, but it was a lemon. I keep telling
myself that every company is entitled to one now and then, and this is
the first one I've had in over 20 years of owning Macs. G Apple has
since replaced the MacBook (*and* sent me some "gosh, we're sorry"
software and recovered some of the files on my backup drive), and I'm
trying desperately to get things back to relative "normal", though I've
lost all of my quilting files collected or designed over the past
umpteen years. All of my QuiltPro and EQ stuff, everything. sigh
The moral of that story is not to rely on only *one* backup -- make
multiples on different media!

Anyway, back to your question. G The feathered stars you're asking
about do come from a Marsha McCloskey book, so you should be in good
shape to get going on your stars. I simply used that stripe (this
particular one wasn't a border print, but those would work, too) as the
center of each star and fussy cut the star points from it, too. Simple
as that! There wasn't a pattern for the entire quilt, though I did
design the whole thing in EQ5 -- one of the files I no longer have,
unfortunately, or I'd offer to send it to you.

tell me -- I'd love to show you the quilt!
