WooHoo! I did pretty well!

"Chill" got a 2nd place (I was actually a bit disappointed with this,
but didn't see what got 1st for a comparison),
"Summer flower box" (the SAL piece) got a 2nd
Crocheted bag got a 1st and Reserve champion
Crocheted small doily got a 1st

I also entered a few flowers from my garden:
Peony bouquet got a 2nd
Pinks got a 1st
Pansies got a 1st

I'm glad I wasn't competing against my coworker in the ccs large
picture category, who got a first, Champion of the embroidery division
*and* Grand Champion of the needlework division with her "Christmas
Elegance" by Mirabilia! I knew she would. I was also really,
really happy for her, because this design kept her going through some
very tough times with her Hodgkins treatments. She made it for
another coworker's wedding gift.

Yay, Joan! Well done! I know how beautifully you work and your successes
are well-deserved. I haven't seen pinks in years and years - must see if
I can find some for me herbaceous borders.

You can get seeds for them at Select Seeds - they specialize in
heirloom varieties. I started several varieties from seed the last
couple of years, and have had a fair amount of success.

More than pretty well. And in a state where lots of people have lots of
long cold nights to sit and stitch, outstanding.

Yes, I'm sure I can get seeds (and will have a look for them, now you
mention it). It's just that no one seems to grow them in our area
lately. Another one I haven't seen in ages is marigolds. And zinnias.
And asters. Hmmmm... Fran, I think I can feel a retro-fest coming on! ;-D
