Lost stash
A bit of a daft post but I have recently learned patchwork/domino knitting and
I went hunting for some stash. I KNOW that I have a huge bag full of odd balls of yarn in the attic, but can I find it? I was wondering if anyone knows of a site where you can just buy bits and bobs of yarn, a bit like some of the cross stitch sites that send you stash every month. www.MorecambeSands.com |

I don't know of a site like the cross stitch site but there is a great yarn resource in Heywood, Lancs. They sell mill ends by weight so they might have lots of ends on cones which you could buy very cheaply (i know that David keeps the cashmere mixes and does mini cones with them- but the others are probably less useful) or could buy small amounts of what they have. The website is www.fairfieldyarns.co.uk -but you really need to visit! Regards Sarah |

This may be a daft suggestion, but have you tried your local charity shops?
Most of the ones around me have a large basket or box full of part used balls and cones of yarn - they usually have dozens of knitting needles of all sizes too - they rarely have them out in the main body of the shop though, the floor space is more valuable than back-room storage space so they use it for high value items like cookware, videos, books and clothing. If you ask they will usually drag out the most incredible stash and let you sit on the floor and sort through it for ages. (Can you tell I've done this a lot?!) I rarely buy new needles and found some lovely yarn (once an entire bag of unused Jaegar in cream!) just by asking nicely at the counter. Does that help? Claire "Franacropan" wrote in message ... Well, what its doing is making more stash. When you finally locate
the bag you'll be amazed by how much is in there!
