Default OT - Gone for the day...

I have an appointment with my family doctor this afternoon, but before I get
ready to leave I want to do the preparations for tonight's supper so that I
don't have much to do later. ;o)

Be back tomorrow! Take care, everyone!

Gemini
- I am working on my new application for Disability too, so if my doctor has
all the reports from the specialist and the hospital then everything is
ready to go for the medical reports. Otherwise I'll have to wait another
week or so before I can send the application out.

Default UPDATE - OT - Gone for the day...

While at the doctor's the other day he told me he has all the information
from the specialist, so I am using this week to check and double check all
the application forms for Disability and bringing the medical one with me
next Tuesday for my next appointment which will be *just* about the
application.

Apparently all the ultrasound scans that my doctor had ordered to see if we
could pinpoint what is causing the massive stomach cramps (thinking for sure
that it was my gallbladder acting up over all these years) showed absolutely
nothing at all... confusing, but relieved that all is clear. I asked him if
there is nothing showing up on the ultrasound then what is causing all the
massive stomach cramps that reach the point where I am throwing up most of
the night? He said "It could be all the acid that you get considering that
the specialist found that you have Barrett's Esophagus. By the way,
Barrett's is bad inflamation that *could* become cancer if not monitored
carefully, so you *will* be monitored... that way if it does change it can
be caught right away. So don't worry, the biopsy was clear." I was
surprised that he thought it was the acid in my esophagus and said "But the
pains are down here!" pointing to where I assumed my stomach is... he smiled
and said "Your esophagus is lower than you think it is."

Default UPDATE - OT - Gone for the day...

Hi Gemini,

I'll be thinking of you on Tues. and that even if it's just about the
application, that they will finally wake up and know that you should be
on disablity. I've also sent you an offlist note about GERD.

Hugs,

Nora

Default UPDATE - OT - Gone for the day...

Thank you, Nora! I did get that email. )

Oh my family doctor is the first person who told me that I should and need
to be on Disability... we just have to get together about the application to
make sure it is filled in "in full detail" this time around so there are no
loop-holes for the people at disability to find and say "Oh she's that bad
and doesn't need to receive Disability". I don't think so... not THIS time!

The lawyers and also the people at social assistance (Ontario Works) have
told me to make sure that we (the doctor and myself) detail absolutely
*every* medical problem that I have, even if it has nothing whatsoever to do
with the Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, or even the
OsteoArthritis... that way the people at disability can see EVERYTHING that
is medically wrong with me and they should have no problem at all with
approving me. Okay, that's the hope for doing it in detail anyway... what
they will actually do could be the complete opposite... but if they turn me
down again even with all the detail that is going into this application, the
lawyers will have a field day with them when they appeal it for me.

*hugs*

I wish you the best. I had the opposite problem -- my doctor would not
complete the simplest form but where I worked was totally on my side.
Eventually my workplace let me retire early. It was only six months so
there was only a very small deduction from my pension. Early
retirement is great. Just not having to commute 2+ hrs a day (only 26
miles each way but lots of traffic) has made a big difference in how I
feel.
Again, best wishes.
Shana

Thank you, Shana! Wow, I'm sorry that you had such problems with your
doctor. I have heard that some doctors are like that and refuse to fill out
forms, even if it would be beneficial to their patients. Thankfully my
doctor isn't like that, and he's known me for over 30 years too... which
likely helps a great deal.

Good that your workplace let you retire early and that you didn't lose a lot
from your pension for doing so. I know what you mean about commuting...
even though it isn't far to the nearby city, there are some days when I
really can't handle it at all... actually on those days I can barely get up
off the sofa. That sounds so lazy when I read it back... but really it's
not, it's due to pain mostly and sometimes to the chronic fatigue syndrome.

Take care!
Gemini

Hi Shana,

I couldn't agree more, early retirment is the best thing. I retired in
1998 and haven't missed the work at all. I also got a good pension to
leave, not because of any illness, just that I had worked 25 years and
turned 55 and I told them either give me something or I'll leave
without a notice. LOL

Hugs,

Nora
