Default Seeking military knitters

Hi Everyone

I am a knitter - but also a journalist for CBS News. I spend a lot of
time in war zones - mostly recently Iraq - and knit while on
assignment to help cope with stress.

Recently while in Baghdad I ordered some wool online. My yarn
supplier, seeing where I was writing from, asked if I'd write an
article for their newsletter about others who knit in conflict zones.
Could I, they asked, get in touch with other military knitters?

I've had limited success tracking down women (or men) who knit while
on active service, or those who knit as part of rehabilitation when
they get home.

Can anyone help me track down people who fit the bill? I just want
them to tell me in a brief email what, when and how they knit.

Any idea if there's a good widely read knitting notice board where I
could post an appeal?

Best wishes to all at the start of the holiday season.

www.socknitters.com has members who know people there; the group
encourages knitting for the military. Ask at some of the military
blogs? I know of a forum where a lot of vets and some active hang
out, talking about everything, but none of them think much of the MSM,
one network in particular (extension from the rep of a former news
anchor).
