Default Your Favorite Block/Blocks?

I have not been quilting long but through these past couple years of
participating in many BOMs and such, I have come to realize that I am
attracted to certain blocks over the others, and the one that has held
my fondness is the Weathervane. For some reason, this is one that I
would like to repeat. I dont know why, I just like it. Do you have any
particular block (or blocks) which is a favorite?

I like to try a lot of different blocks. Weathervane is still on my list of
to-do

I love card trick blocks. No matter how many different blocks I make, if
I need a "quick idea" I always return to that one.

My mothers favorite is a kaleidoscope block, my favorite is a log cabin or
one of his many variations..
We made a lot of these blocks for little quilts (gifts ;-)

Any star block is my favorite - don't know why.

I like nine patches for several reasons. They're easy, can be combined with
other blocks to make lovely secondary patterns (Snowballs, Irish Chain) and
they're easy. Did I mention that they're easy?

The one currently under contruction is always the favorite :-) But they do
seem to come in cycles of obsession. Once I made nothing but Drunkard's Path
and variations thereof. Then it was Log Cabin for a long time. Followed by
many more happy obsessions. Right now it's not a block as such, more of a
Mariner's Compass fixation with round mosaics.

Good question Ann! and a good conversation starter :-)

My favorite isn't really a block per se -- more of a block family, the 9
Patch. Each time I see a block that seems attractive or that I want to
make, it turns out to be a 9 Patch after I analyze it. Of the 9 Patches
I've done though, I think Card Trick is probably the most favorite.

for some reason, I too lean towards star blocks very frequently. in fact i
have twenty different 12" star blocks waiting to be sashed and bordered into
a star sampler.
i have to say that i love almost any log cabin i ever see done by anyone.
always warm and cozy. makes me want to go start one.
love your weathervane.....may take your suggestion and do some of those!!
and I love, though haven't done any of the other folks' idea of
Kaleidoscope. love the possibilities. have a bunch of hand-dyeds that may
work beautifully w/ that block.
hhhhmmmmm, thanks for getting me thinking.
