I know I'm new here and maybe unknown and/or possibly boring, but I'm
starting to think I'm the only one who can see my posts. I've posted
several honest questions and not one nibble of answer.

I thought at least the bead shop owners and designers would venture a
comment about my question as to whether the Japanese seeds will crowd
out the Czech in the market? I know some of you prefer the Czech like I
do...

Also still looking for a brand recommendation and method of application
for the "artist's fixative" all the sources recommend for adding to the
permanence of metallic/galvanized finish beads. Has anyone actually
done this?

Monique in TX
so many beads, so many questions, so little time.

I saw this post, and a response from Barbara, yesterday.

I don't recall seeing this post.

Sometimes things escape into the ether, sometimes a post just gets missed by
the people who might have been interested in responding, sometimes the
people who might want to respond aren't around right now, and sometimes no
one has a response. Try not to take it personally... as you can see from
other threads, we're a friendly, helpful group generally.

(HTH - I am one of those who has nothing to add to your actual
questions/discussion, sorry but ... I'm here for eye-candy and the people, I
have almost no expertise/opinion!)

Most of us only answer posts we find interesting. That said, I think
there is a place for both the Czech seeds and the Japanese. I do not
think that the Japanese seeds will crowd out the Czech market since a
lot of designers only use seed beads for spacers between larger beads
and the Czech ones are better for that kind of design.

Can't help you on the other question.

Default Czech seeds

Thanks folks! Methinks my mailer's eating messages. Barbara, I sure
didn't see your reply. Thanks for answering. I'll see if I can
retrieve it from the ether. mumble, mumble, dadgum electrons....

I'm glad that people think the Czech seed beads are "safe" in the
marketplace. I'm sure I don't know how the bead shop owners decide what
to stock--can't have space for *everything," and it's all sooo pretty.
I can imagine it's easier to order in the Japanese by color number and
whatnot, but there's something about running a hank of seed beads
through the fingers... I had 24 hours in Prague last year. I wish I
had the trip to do again. I might have skipped a palace or two and gone
to a bead market/outlet.

who received in the mail yesterday some itty bitty lapis cylinders that
are almost small enough to count as seed beads.

I replied to your post. As far as a fixative, there are several
suggestions on the web, although I don't know them offhand.

I think both types of beads have their uses. I prefer Japanese seed
beads or delicas for loomwork because they require less culling, but I
like Czech beads for fringe and offloom techniques that don't demand as
much precision.
