Default Back from Retreat

Pauline:
Glad you had such fun! I want to know
more about the blooming 9 patch
Halloween quilt. With all my Halloween
fabric I'm looking for ideas!! I am
familiar with a book about blooming nine
patch ... Blanche Young is author IIRC.
It was done with very subtle color
values. Is yours a variation on that?
PAT, back in Virginia again!

I worked on a triple Irish chain, until I was bored to death with it!!!
Then I put the remaining borders on my blooming 9-patch Halloween quilt.
Then I worked on machine appliqueing a quilt called Pretty Dresses. I got
lots done. It's totally unstructured, so very relaxing.

Default Blooming 9-Patch was Back from Retreat

Hi Pat,
I pulled my book out (Color From the Heart by Gai Perry) & she simply calls
it a variation of a Nine-Patch. My quilt instructer calls it a Blooming
9-Patch. It was a study on working with color. The instructions are to
start with your border fabric & pull colors from your border fabric to make
up the quilt. The opposite of what I have done in the past! It was a bit
of a struggle, but it worked. It's probably not a quilt I would have chosen
to make, but I'm very happy with the end result. It's a different way of
thinking!
I'll try to remember to take a picture of it so you can see. I googled
blooming 9-patches & I would say that my pattern is less busy than the ones
I found, although somewhat similar.
