If I only learned to follow cutting directions
sigh Leave it up to me to 'think' I know enough about fabric cutting
that I wouldn't make terrible mistakes! I spent the best part of today (when I could have been piecing or swimming) cutting and re-cutting fabric. I received in the mail yesterday my first book on "Stack n Whack" so of course I wanted to dig right in and make the absolutely most beautiful Stack-n-Whack ever created... I I told you I failed miserably would you take pity on me? I know better, I should read direction before I start anything like this. Of course I didn't. Sooooo.... I now have all kinds of 5" to 8" strip of fabric. And for all my efforts have 3 stars and a whole lot of scraps.. Thankfully they will go in my scraps for my next DWR quilt. And I have a plan so that 'maybe' I can salvage this project. Needless to say I will definitely read the directions closely before attempting this again... and I WILL get it right next time I try this. juliasb -- ** When responding in email please put in subject line RCTQ *** this will insure the mail will go to the right box **** Remove (nospam) from address. now... come and journey with me from darkness.... .... into New Life http://www.nwlife.com |

If you have six identical (or even partly identical) strips of each,
you could make different size stars. The key is to match what you have exactly (putting the smaller pieces on top), pinning them to make sure they don't shift and then to cut your triangles within the height of the smallest strip. I've seen some very effective SnWs lately done this way. Kate,
You definitely want to heed the instruction for this one. I had all the layers laid out and pinned then instead of making a vertical cut I made a horizontal cut and bam!! a big fat mistake.... I have not given up to say the least and right after I finish here I am back to seeing if I can match the needed pieces from what I messed up on... Will keep you posted on my progress. juliasb Kate Dicey wrote: julia sidebottom wrote: sigh Leave it up to me to 'think' I know enough about fabric cutting that I wouldn't make terrible mistakes! DRW means "double wedding ring". I have made several and am getting
more scraps ready for cutting for another one. This is a good way to use up a large amoount so scraps. juliasb mbrwfy wrote: Pardon a newbie's ignorance, but what does "DWR" mean?
