Default On and Off Topic - getting caught up

hello everyone! Just thought I'd pop in and mention a few things. I'm almost
finished with a pair of socks. I wasn't sure who they would be for, but
after the whole family tried the finished one on, they fit DS#1, so he gets
this pair. I have finished 3 hats for Ship Support this month (two got
mailed on time, one is sitting here for the next mailing), and I brought our
choir director a whole stack of music (getting rid of clutter).
Now the good stuff! I had a job interview yesterday that was the most
enjoyable one yet. I start on a temporary basis Monday, and it could turn
into a permanent position. After 4 months of collecting unemployment, I'm
more than ready to get back to work. I recieved a call today from another
company I sent my resume to, and I'll be interviewing there probably
tomorrow. So, to the rest of the unemployed group I say - It must be true
that the economy is picking up! Now if only DS#2 could get a job.....

Peace,
Michele in KY

Hi Michele,

Now, that is great news to start the year. Doesn't it rain, but pour, accept
one job even if temporary and another interview comes along. Maybe you'll get
offers from both and have to make the decision which one to take.

Hugs,

Nora

Congratulations Michelle! One of my best jobs ever came from a temp to perm
position. (Was the one I met my husband at too!)

Happy dancing in Washington (the state!)

Congratulations Michelle on the job! I'm glad to hear that you're seeing
things picking up. I'm in my sixth month of unemployment now, and although
I haven't had any increase in calls or interviews, I'm seeing more job
postings, so I'm hopeful.

Michele,
I am SO happy for you... and you are SO right about temp jobs... they can
be lifesavers, and as JJ said, they can and do turn into permanent jobs,
and you meet the nicest people!
NOW that things are looking up... NOW I will admit to being the Santa's
Helper! They may not be as sexy as the Frederick's of Hollywood slippers,
but they ARE a heck of alot WARMER!!!

Me too! Practically every minute that I'm in the house, I don't know what I
did without them.

Ha! I knew it was you, Noreen. ;-D Did I mention how much I appreciate the
slippers?
The second interview I went to was disappointing. I am overqualified for
the position, and I would have to take a HUGE pay cut if I accepted it (they
didn't actually offer it to me, but told me it is an entry level position).
Today I am trying to get caught up reading the NG, finish a project or two
(DS#1's shirt still needs buttonholes), and possibly rent "Bye Bye Birdie".
At choir practice wednesday, we called our pastor (he's on a skiing
vacation) to sing to him over the phone. We sang "We love you Father ****,
oh yes we do, we miss you Father ****, it's true, oh Father **** we miss
you". I got to do a little descant at the end - it was so cool. All in all,
this has been a pretty fun week.
Karen, you are in my prayers. Something will come up soon.

Peace,
Michele in KY
