Default 4th of july sales?

Sorry Taria - not in the right place for help on this!

At the moment, I am working on using up fabric that I don't really see
in future pieces.

Does anyone else find that their fabric preferences change over time?
Or do you change what you buy according to the pattern you plan to
follow; or do you find patterns to suit what fabric you do have?

I don't remember our discussing this aspect of our work before. Could
be interesting.

Any comments?

I don't know of any sales, but tomorrow I will stop at our local Fabric Town to check, after Tai Chi. I have been commissioned to do two pieces for a local therapist, one for her wall, one for a cuddle piece for clients. I have a fabric pack from Keepsake that picks up the colors of her wall for the outer office.

Pat to answer your question, decades ago maroons and blues dominated my fabric collection. I still like them, but after my surgery in '99, it was very interesting to see how orange came into my stash! And batiks. And of course southwest inspired designs.

My preferences have definitely changed over the years. A few years ago,
I thinned my stash a bit by donating a lot of stuff I was sure I wasn't
going to use to a church group that made charity quilts. I used to use a
lot more floral prints than I do now. Now I am more inclined to buy
batiks or blenders.

If I am buying for a specific quilt, I usually pick the pattern first.
However, I'm aiming for stash reduction, so am always on the lookout for
scrappy quilt patterns.

OK, where to start, used to love prints, now prefer plains so I can
design the pattern. Favourite fabrics were always the off cuts from
dress making when my DDs were younger....

Have lots of special fabrics that I haven't yet used and feel guilty
that they are unused Note to self must make something from these as
unused and boxed is no good. Colour wise I think that I've done the
whole rainbow in my time. Now to use what I've got before buying
anymore.....now for some free time and inspiration

Hello Everyone.
Can't help much on sales but JoAnn's Fabrics is having a one day sale of quilting fabrics at 40% off this Monday only. This is in the Pocatello, Idaho store.
Just wanted to comment about our thoughts on material which we brought and then later could not understand why we liked it let alone actually buying some.
Have told myself that I must of been brain dead that shopping day.
Sometimes I buy material because I like it but have no pattern or idea what to make with it but go ahead and buy it any way hoping to get inspired by something or a pattern I see but would change a couple of things before making it.

My fabric choices have changed over the years. I tend to lean more towards solids and blenders. In the past year or so I have purchased a lot of civil war repros and have 2 patterns I want to make up. I also like Asian prints. Sometimes I buy a fabric for a pattern and others a pattern for a fabric. I’ve even purchased patterns for a couple of patterns that lean towards modern.

Howdy!
Fabricshack.com has a sale, of course; there are some pretty good prices,
and the fabric looks marvelous (I often shop here).
Fortworthfabricstudio.com has some lovelies on sale. I like them, too.

It's all good: it's fabric!

Ragmop/Sandy - ready to celebrate the 4th of July!!!

Thanks Sandy and all. Not all of us get to celebrate this country and
an anniversary! Happy day to you and your dh.
I'm headed over to fabricshack.

Just got an e-mail from fabric.com with a 40% off sale. Did not go
there to find out if it was everything or selected items. I have
selected enough items for a while...
