Applique blocks from HE*&
Aargh.
A couple of months back I asked for advice about some applique blocks I had from teaching. The background to one of the samples had faded; likely from being displayed in a window or very sunny spot. Well....I re-did the faded block. Then, I realized on another block I had the colors of the leaves in a different order so I picked off those darn leaves and rearranged them properly. Determined to finish I began to sew a zillion (ok more like 152) 1 inch finished half square triangles to sew around the blocks. I sewed and sewed and sewed and pressed and trimmed and finally they are done! Now the shop has called and wants me to teach that very same class. I have taught that class for more than 2 years, I thought no one would want a pattern that old. sigh. So.....do I take a block for the sample and put the project on hold or make a new block so I can keep going or just throw my hands in the air and howl? marcella |

Marcella,
First I'd do the latter, then I'd console myself with much chocolate, then prepare to do the former even with telltale evidence all over my face for the over-indulgence of the delicious confection. (But don't forget to wash the hands thoroughly to remove all evidence from the finger before proceeding). Just MHO. (Hee! Hee!) That's my story and I'm sticking to it. No, I think you should make a new block -- or use the faded one -- for the class sample. Using the faded one will be a lesson in itself, since you can point out what happens to fabrics exposed to too much sunlight. Finish your own project, though! Don't take one of those blocks to the shop,or it will fade, too! g -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas my ISP is earthlink.net -- put sfoster1(at) in front http://home.earthlink.net/~sfoster1 AKA Dame Sandy, Minister of Education |

I vote for throwing hands in the air and howling - then make a new block ;-)
At least the thought of howling will help you chuckle while your stitching! -- Bonnie NJ "Marcella Peek" wrote in message ... Aargh. This is what you get for not following my advice to stuff them in a bag at
the back of the closet. -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm un-STUFF email address to reply "Marcella Peek" wrote in message ... Aargh. Don't take one of those blocks to the shop,or it will fade, too! g The faded one is no more. Only the background had faded and I didn't have enough applique fabrics for another block so I picked off all the pieces and appliqued them to a new background. This isn't the faded block shop. I was teaching the class at two shops and I finished the edges differently so I know where the fading happened. Shoot, this pattern just won't go away. marcella |
