Default Butterfly! How beautiful!

WOW, just WOW - I ran across this in the archives and felt the NEED to
repost it just cuz it is SOOOO beautiful! Just like she is!

Hugs,
Tina, who has been the recipient of those healing wings! Thanks so
much Butterfly for being such a beautiful person. This made me cry!

Stolen from the archives:

A little bit about Butterfly's Wings, mostly for the Newbies, who've
not
been here long enough to know what we're talking about. Butterfly has
had a wounded Wing, but even then, she was known to "lend" her Wings,
when some of us (we do care a great DEAL about each other, here) to
those who were having wing-trouble.

I've SEEN Butterfly's Wings, and what they can do. Sometimes, her Wings

are translucent, with the hint of a soft summer sunrise peeking through

the gossamer as they flutter. Sometimes, Butterfly's Wings are the
texture (and color), in each separate pane of them, of kitten-fur, the
down of fuzzy baby-chicks, a happy-fuzzy leaf or a pussy-willow as it
greets the springtime. I've seen Butterfly's Wings heavy with the
glitter of sunshine; dripping with the soft-silver of the rain; and
soaring along with a double rainbow.
But don't think Butterfly's wings are always (or perhaps ever) as
fragile as a summer dawn. Not a bit. I've heard the deep thunder of
Butterfly's wings-of-purple . I've heard the HISSSSSS of Butterfly's
fiery Wings, as they've beat down another demon -- or helped lift
another quilter. There is as much STEEL in these Wings as there is
silk.

The cool thing about Butterfly's wings, Folks (and somethig Butterfly
hasn't quite realized, yet, I don't think) is that those wings are
divisible (but never get smaller); and stretch-able (but get no
thinner,
and no less strong). They are ALWAYS the right color. ALWAYS the
perfect shape for Maximum Lift. And they never, ever, have to be "cut
to fit."

Because, you see, Butterfly's Wings are made of the strongest substance

ever known: LOVE.

Now, don't anyone get the idea that Butterfly's Wings are infinite,
simply to be used (and they must NEVER be asked for, for yourself) at
every little setback -- or even some of the big ones (Butterfly must
have SOME control over her Wings -- after all -- they ARE Butterfly's
Wings).

And so, Butterfly, Marny and Karen may keep your Wings as long as they
need them, AND send them to Rita. No, it makes no sense to overwork
Butterfly's Wings -- and we all know that even Magic Wings (LOVE really

IS the ultimate Magic, after all) cannot stretch to infinity.

Meanwhile, it seems to me that we CAN sort of keep an eye out for,
well,
..... Butterfly fabric, and keep some on hand ... in case Butterfly's
Wings are looking a little peaked, or beating a little slowly -- and
send that along as well (or sometimes, in lieu of, if those Wings are
really BUSY -- the thought is the same). That's what Butterfly
suggested to me (I sent her some butterflies, when one of her Wings was

out of commission), in this post. I shall do that. Although I KNOW
those Wings will ST-R-E-E-E-E-T-T-T-C-C-H-H, a little bit of help can't

hurt, either.
Happy Trails,
Sarah in Las Cruces, NM

Tina-

Gee, you've been searching DEEP in the archives. vbg Sadly, Sarah
left our group quite some time ago. Us "oldies" still miss her and her
elequent- and often very, very funny- posts.

And every word of her post is TRUE!

Ok, so now that the mention of other NG's has been made, can I ask a
stupid question?

How many of you are on other NG's? Are they quilty related? Are there
a LOT of people on RCTQ that are also members of QuiltArts?

Is there anything or any particular reason you like another group? Or
don't?

Curiosity,
Tina

I've been involved with an NG that started with MSN since '96. We've
changed servers often and the group is much smaller but we are still a tight
group. We had our first get-together in '97 and have had one every years
since except this year. The group is not quilt related but age related....
all or most are over 50. I also moderate a little used craft group on yet
another server.

I'm opnly on one other, and Miss Kate is there with me....alt.sewing. I
guess it's because we both do quilts *and* clothing/costumes/formals.
It works, get some advice, offer some advice, trolls, flames, same thing
as here, but no chocolate, and it doesn't seem as cozy. There are LOTS
less OT messages there, but I think that's what makes this group
neat...we are more than willing to share with each other what is going
on in our lives.

I started with a UK crafts one years ago, but the crafts gradually
changed to ones I wasn't interested in, like woodwork so I stopped
going there. At the same time I joined one where the emphasis was
embroidery, but it got a bit argumentative so I stopped for about 5
years. Then went back but when I realised they seemed more interested
in unpleasantness (didn't like people being called liars, etc - and
not jokingly) I did a rapid about turn..

Then I found RCTQ, and I ain't going anywhere else!

Haven't met QuiltArts, but don't think I have time for another group
unless I give up quilting! I'm on a few Yahoo groups lists, but never
have time to go there.

Tina-

I read an arthritis ng and a fibromyalgia ng, but do not post there,
they aren't always too welcoming to newbies and have some MAJOR flame
wars. I just want to learn info from reading them. I also subscribe
to a Yahoo quilt teachers group- again, I don't post but get some good
info and links to view. RCTQ is my "home" where my friends are. I'm
happy and comfy here- on topic or off.

And y'all seem to understand my passion for my HairyButt Gang.... or at
least tolerate it! LOL
