Melody,

What Norma and I were suggesting and I guess it's gotten out of hand, is just
someplace where we can put just our pics and name, nothing else.

Hugs,

Melody,

If you want to create a Group or a Site, go right ahead and do so. I will *not*
participate, however.

We have everything we need here already. If we want photos of ourselves and our
"work" available for others to see, we have numerous resources currently
available for that purpose. Much personal data and information is shared here on
a daily basis, and that is sufficient.

To say that someone needs a hug from you, and then to call them pathetic because
their opinion differs from your own, is rather rude and mean-spirited. Those
comments are unjustifiable, even in private messages off-list. They absolutely
have no place at all in this publically available list.

Your personal apology is not enough to mitigate the impact of your words, but it
would be a start.

I am a recent victim of Identity Theft that cost me tens of thousands of dollars
and much personal turmoil. Slinky is right. You are not. Let's move on now.

Here, here!!!!

I too, must have missed a post - not quite sure exactly what was going
on but I'm with you - I'm slightly less security wary than you but not
by much and I've been on RCTY for 8 years and agree - don't fix what's
not broken!!!

Melody. I hope you are not angry with me. I had not seen this when I
posted this other message. I know that you want to be nice and that
is what I want to be too. I want to keep this as easy as possible,
that's all. I suggest that we only put info in your site that we
don't mind sharing with the world. No need to put email-adresses
there for those who don't want. OK?

Thank you Martin, that's a great idea!

My name is Melody Anderson
My prefered email is:
My B-day is June 5th/55
I don't have a Wedding Anniversary because I've never been married.
My preferred craft is: Knitting. I tried crochet a few times but can't do

it
well at all, so I gave up. BG
I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (that's close to Toronto)
Other info about me: I have 3 other sisters (one younger, 2 older), 8

nieces
and nephews, 1 greatniece and 1 greatnephew and another greatbaby coming

in
June/04 (yippee!).

I have a little green scooter that I use to get around shopping, or for
going to church (St. John of the Cross, Roman Catholic) which I attend

every
Sunday - unless I'm sick.

I just had an emergency gall bladder operation on Sept. 23rd. The

symptoms
weren't much so I put off going to emerg and got septic. They managed to
remove a golf ball size stone and took the gallbladder with it. My

favorite
saying right now is: 'I regret that I have but one gallbladder to give

for
my country'. lol Yes, it's a sick joke but wadda ya gonna do? That's

just
me being silly! Just glad it's over with and out of the way!

Oh, and I have a big sense of humour! Hate slapstick comedy - never like
seeing people hurt and laughed at. Also don't like practical jokes, again
don't like seeing some jerk get their jollys from someone elses misery.

I'll be putting up some recipes on the new site and poems, when I figure

out
where to build it. My Angel Hugs site is on Tripod and it works nicely

but
I've been looking at Bravenet because I can password protect the new site
there. Just not sure where a 'secure' enough site will be for everyone

but
I'm open to suggestions.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for asking!

Sorry Angelicsong but I seem to have missed the start of this thread,
possibly due to server problems. What are the "our pages" that you

refer
to?

RCTY is open. Everything is transparent (I hope). If your intention is

to
enhance the group, why not fill in the following questionairre and post

it
to the group? I'm sure that you'd get a better response if you did.

- Your name:
- Your email (the one you prefer to use):
- Your Birthday:
- Wedding Anniversary:
- What you like to do best, Knit, Crochet, Spin, Needlework?
- Where you live (what city/town and country). There is a would map

on

Hi Everyone,

To start our pages I need the following info you can email it back to

me
at:
, this will help not to clog the RCTY
newsgroup
up.

A little biography of yourself: ie how many children, ages,

male/female

any interesting tid bit you'd like to share.

If you'd like to send me a recipe, poem, story, craft tip or link.

Please
include it or send it along when you can!!

not meaning to step on toes here, but i wonder how other lurkers like myself
are taking this all in...someone suggests something, then gets stomped on. add
that to noreen's post a few days ago about someone not holding up their end of
a deal (which someone like myself wouldn't know about)...

i'll just hide in my corner a little longer...

I'm sorry if you think I wear jackboots (actually I wear ****kickers,
given that I spend quite a bit of time slogging around on a farm or in
other mucky stuff). I don't think that pointing out the potential
hazards of coughing up personal information constitutes "stomping".
Anyone gullible enough to blithely provide their name, location and
birthdate to a stranger who wants to publish it on a webpage without
considering the ramifications will probably learn a hard lesson.

There's sheep, and there's goats. I tend to be a goat and I try to
encourage others to think like goats - meaning not to follow the herd
and to form their own opinions. You can't do that without
information.

I'm also short on tact. One of the reasons I can't keep the "manager"
in my job title for more than a few months at a time *g*

Martin is doing a great job, my picture is there already.....as well as
some of the textile items I have created.

My brother in Holland wanted me to join anYahoo group for Menieres support
in Holland. I had a look at it and was stunned by all the information
Yahoo wanted from me before they let me join this group...I have not
joined that group. Looks like what now is beeing organized here is the
same.

I may be the odd one out...for that same reason you will never get me into
a Cosco store either. It made me think of the war time (second world war)
where we all had to constandly prove who we were etc.

Sorry guys, but I am not comfortable with that, count me out

I have added a trap for spammers......niet.....

I'm not really either. I think it's a well-intentioned idea, and I think a
place for us to post our pictures and names is great. But anymore than
that, I wouldn't be comfortable giving out, not my real email address and
certainly not any other identifying details (I've had to go to a lot of info
sessions related to identity theft in my job -- it's a major issue, and not
that hard for someone that is determined to pull off). I have a problem
with Yahoo -- with a dial-up account, there are just too many pop-ups and
ads and other intrusions to make it less than enjoyable to use, and the
account there that I do have, and which I never use, is still constantly
filled with spam (most of it from yahoo-related marketers, who probably pass
it on!). But for those that don't mind, it's certainly an option -- it
certainly doesn't mean you can't go for it. Speaking for myself, I'm happy
with this group (which I have enough trouble keeping up with sometimes!
and Martin's page and other Yahoo albums for photos. Just my two cents.
