Default Steam Press???

DBF would like to get a steam press for my soon to be sewing room for my
birthday in April. Looking on the net we've found these four pop up
over and over on a google search:

Singer Steam Press CSP-1
Steamfast SP-660
EuroPro ST-103
CHEF'S professional steam press

Does anyone have any experience with these or another press? Anything
else I need to know?

Maureen

I have a high end EP it worked OK, but when I needed service- they are the
absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. Apparently I am not alone.
They have been reported to the BBB numerous times and there are lots of
complaints same as mine. They have an 800 number that takes msgs but does
not reply back. Fax es go unansewered as well as snail and email. And I was
only looking for a service center!
YMMV

Make sure you look at the size of the bed on each press -- that's the size
you'll be pressing. I finally decided a steam generator would suit my needs
better.

I've had a Euro-Pro for several years. It works fine, but I seldom use the
steam feature. I spray the fabric using the bottle that came with the
press. Don't expect to press large pieces of fabric with any of the
presses I've seen. The pressing area is small and it's a pain to do.
However, they are great for fusing interfacing. Much faster. I also press
finished quilt blocks and quilt tops. It's still a nuisance to do the quilt
tops but they come out very flat and it helps the quilting process.

I have an Elnapress Alize. I like it very much for pressing, especially
thick pieces as it makes them easier to handle. I use a spray bottle as this
is not a Steam press.
