This person came on Skype today and wrote: "Hello there, I was looking
around the directory and I found your profile, and you seemed worth
talking to "

There is only one directory I am in folks.

So has anyone ever heard of her?

Sounds a little strange to me, Jo. Hopefully someone recognizes the name
and can vouch for her.

Jo, I haven't seen this in a while but it looks very much like a scam
that that used to circulate and will send you to sites you don't want to
see. Just delete the message and let her find another friend somewhere.

She can't look at the directory unless she is in the directory. That's the
only way to get a copy. I have about 10 years of RCTQ directories -- and
no one by that name is in any of them!

So I would be very suspect! Don't see how it could be legit.

Perhaps your new "friend" meant the Skype directory?

That's what I was thinking too. Scammers are very good at generic
messages that sound "almost" legit. If she was real then she'd add
personal details so you could confirm who she is. If you don't know her
then delete her.

I get lots of junk e-mails like this (usually addressed to any names
that begin with 'S', and also ones wanting to be my friend on Facebook!
They all sound as though they could be genuine, and say they are local
but as they mention words like 'fun' I don't think they are really
directed at a 70 year old staid married lady!

Suspect your Cora J is something similar

Sounds like a typical phishing message. Delete and ignore.
