Default Are there any knitters here???

Hi!! I am not so sure if I am in the right group for public borard.. I
saw where it spoke ibout knitting in the preview of this group..
Anyway, are there anyone here that knits?
If not, I am interested in learing about what is here.. Crossstitching
I believe whould be hard since I can see to do so.. But embroidery? I
did some in junior high.. And just out of curiosity, can you make your
own patterns or designs with embroidery??
Anyway, just curious..
Thanks again\

Welcome, Portia! There are some here (although I'm not one) but there
are even more knitters over on rec.crafts.textiles.yarn. And yes, you
can absolutely make your own designs with embroidery. After all,
someone had to design everything that is available out there...

We're a motley crew. Surface embroidery, counted-thread embroidery,
machine embroidery, knitting, crochet, punchneedle, and even some sewing
can be found around here. About the only thing I haven't seen anyone
here talk about using a needle on is a voodoo doll! {grin}

I've knit for almost 30 years now, mostly lace lately. On a shawls and
ponchos tear at the moment. I've knit just about anything you can
imagine. I love a handknit sweater, but will freely admit that
knitting sleeves makes me a bit nuts--I just want the project finished
by that point you see! lol

Currently, I have a thick wool poncho with cables in the works, a
sports weight cotton short sleeved sweater (current issue of knitters
magazine) and a very light laceweight lace shawl going.

Hi Portia,

I've just started knitting and I love it. I also cross stitch, embroider,
make bobbin lace and a little needle lace, crochet, weave on table and inkle
looms, make potholders on a loop loom and cord on a lucet, do nalbinding
and, this just in, am learning tablet weaving. Am I an expert at any of
this? NO! I'm a competent dabbler and I love it!

Good morning from Calif.. Thanks to you all.. I love the voodoo doll
one.. Made me giggle a little..
Well, I see there are quite a few things some of you do. And yes, I am
a dabbler as well.. Just haven't found anyone to show me some things
yet.. And I had bought some material a while back to learn how to hand
quilt.. Just haven't gotten to doing so..
I have some many unfinished projects to knit.. But right now our
financial situation put things off a bit.. I hope in time I can finish
everything I started..
I start something and start something else and so on and so on.. Iam
sure many know what I mean here on that score..
Thanks Brenda for clarifying that.. Anyway, have a blessed day, and I
look forward to learning from you all..
Just afraid to ask and not bother ppl too much with too many
questions..
Portia
