Default Gress Electric kiln

I have a Gress Electric kiln (B 34 H I think is the model number).
My mother passed away and I don't know much about the thing and I dont
do crafts.

I wanted to know what it was worth because its just taking up space in
my garage and non of my family members are interested.

My apologies if this is not the correct group to post this in.

Thanks,

Dan

My condoloences about your Mom.

Your Mom's kiln is probably a Cress instead of Gress. You may want to let us
know where you live and how much you are asking for the kiln.

you can call or email 800 423 4584 the manufacture
http://www.cressfurnaces.com/prod02.htm to get an idea of the age and worth.
you can also check on ebay for the same kiln or one like it for an idea of
how much to ask for it. if you have a college near by you can ask them if
you can post a sale notice for the kiln. kilns are usually easy to find a
buyer for if your price is reasonable. kilns are not easy to ship so you
are best off selling it nearby. people will want to know to what cone
(temp) it fires to, what the cubic volume is, electric needs, condition of
inside, age, etc. (again look at ebay to see how people describe it.
posting here may work. you can also post at clayart
http://www.potters.org/about.htm

sorry about your mom. good luck with finding a home for the kiln.

I suggest you find pottery groups in your area, ask someone to take a look
at it and give you an idea about what sort of price you could expect. Then
advertise and sell it.
Just a thought, remember that pottery/ceramics is an art as well as a craft.

This advice is great. Thanks to all of you who posted. I have been
searching for a 4 hours aimlessly and you folks led me in the right
direction.

I will post the price I am selling it for as soon as I get a good idea
of a fair price. The kiln is in perfect condition. I live in Southern
California.

Thanks,

Dan
