Default "Altered" knitting

I had a root canal today. Ok, not the entire root canal because
*surprise surprise* I had an abcess under there despite the dentist's
avowals to the contrary. So I'm taking antibiotics for a week and
going back to have the rest of the procedure done, plus the crown
prep.

At any rate, I am so uptight about having dental work that I load on
some Valium about an hour before the festivities begin. Today the
stuff hit me faster than usual. When the valium wore off I had to
frog 3 very long rows of the unspun Icelandic laceweight shawl that is
my current portable project - the three rows I knitted while under the
influence

LOL I am reminded of a Lucy Neatby sweater called "Cables after Whiskey". I
have the pattern, and plan to knit it for my DIL.

I have to laugh, seeing you sitting and knitting happely away in the
relaxed state of Valium.....very funny, that you had to rip afterwards is
not so much fun....Michelle, you can think of me when I have a tooth
implant on Tuesday. I am fine with dental work though....I have enough
problems while knitting, that I certainly will not add a Valium pattern to
it....LOL, Hope you will feel better soon

Maybe we should do more knitting in a happy state......of Valium, Ativan,
or a nice glass of wine.....

I tried adding a bit of Rum to my hot cocoa, while all the kids were here
and I had caught everyones cold. With all the cotton in my head instead
of on my needles or on my spinning wheel, I thought that Rum and hot cocoa
would be the ticket.....I did not like it at all, and my head was even
more stuffy....LOL

Els,
You should have added Bailey's Irish Cream to your cocoa. Much nicer!
How are you feeling now?

The tinking was particularly onerous, as I'm using unspun Icelandic

so I essentially trashed about 30' of yarn. Good thing I overbought
(as usual)!

I assume you kept it for felting? if nothing else, it could be
a boot liner.

Nah - the shawl is fine, I had to rip 3 VEERRY long rows. Doing that
with icelandic laceweight produces lots of little bits of yarn. I'll
make a catnip toy if I get ambitious, otherwise the next time the wad
surfaces it'll go into the trash...

You know, a similar thing happened to me while Lammy was in the hospital. I
was so stressed up until that point that when I finally had some time to
myself and my thoughts, I looked at my cables and thought, "What was I
thinking!!" I was almost half way done with that side, and i ripped it back
almost to the end. :P

That sounds great, but we do not have a lot of liquor in the house, only
what the kids bring when they are here. Menieres and hard liquor do not
go together well, :=(( I am fine cold is gone again.
