======================================

The Dancer

Let us start with the Maypole ... that upright vision
.... phallic in origin ... around which danced in frolicking
frenzy damsels of old ... attached to the pole by long ribbons
.... weaving an elaborate maze which resulted in a common
union of fertility at the center. Today we have porno. Then
we had Fertility Dances. And you thought dancing wasn't fun.

The origin of the dance was the celebration of the changing
of the seasons ... and a sympathetic identification with the birth
and rebirth that those changes brought. Hey ... look ... it's Spring.
Let's hop in the hay. Hey ... look ... it's winter. Let's go to the
barn. It's Autumn ... it's summer ...in the leaves ... on the beach.
Anything in order to ensure the propagation of the species.

Dance ... mes amis ... is a good thing. Of course ... you might say
.... hey ... what about the rain dance? Yeah ... well ... rain makes
the grass grow ... yada yada yada.

Dance has many purposes. Dervishes danced in order to ensure
a closer union to God ... their whirling akin to the whirling of the
planet. Shiva ... Lord of the Dance ... danced upon the defeated
demon of chaos and ignorance in order to proclaim his victory. Not
much unlike ... in my imagination ... not much unlike Tar-Zan (gorilla
talk for White Skin) as he placed his foot upon the corpse of a
defeated enemy and yelled for the world to hear ... uhuh - aahh -
uhhhh - aaaahhhh while beating his chest in a frenzy and then running
off and asking Jane for one last dance before they hit the vines.

So ... with all this dance info ... you might think it appropriate if
I showed you a doo-dad made of rubies and pearls and diamonds and gold
.... a little sprite ... a dancer if you will ... made circa 1940 by
Van Cleef & Arpels. Very very pretty little thing ... probably warming
up for a romp around the maypole.

For those of you who are new to this thing called
Tidbits...may I direct you to my home page at www.tyler-adam.com where
you will scroll down the left side menu till you get to the area that
says Tidbits Graphics ... and then click on the link that says: Dancer
.... for a view of our sculpted figure in gold.

And there ya have it.
That's it for this week folks.
Catch you all next week.
