Default socks for preschooler?

i'm looking for tube socks for toddler size 10 (which i have
no idea how to translate to European size). i've made him
regular socks, but he's starting to put them on himself & the
heel ends up on top g. he loves bright colors & patterns
(store bought boys socks are so boring!) but i'm not a fan of
duplicate stitch. i need to knit the designs in or it never
gets done. oh & it needs to be on DPs or circular needles. he
has issues with seams.
any ideas?

Two words: spiral socks. No seam (except the toe, but even that can be
minimized), no heel.

Sure, mistake rib all the way. No heel, and a round toe so it doesn't
matter what direction he's aiming when he puts 'em on.

That's right, I forgot that the spiral socks decrease down to nothing at the
toe---no seam!

ahh! that would be great
now, mistake rib is how you get the spiral too, isn't it?
just k2p2 & every 2 rows you move it over one stitch?

You can vary the length of the rib from 2-5 rounds before moving it
over. A 2-round repeat is going to produce something that closely
resembles moss or double-moss stitch, a longer repeat looks more
ribbish.

Lee,

If you go to Sue CD's website she has directions for spiral socks. I loved
making them.

Hugs,

Nora
