Default Quilts for a good cause

My Quilting Guild has been busy again. We are making quilts for all the
beds in a new Battered Women's shelter that is being built in Reading, PA.
For years we have provided a smaller quilt for every child who has passed
through the shelter doors. Here is a link to the article

What a great project! Our club makes teddy bears for the shelter kids,
and toiletry bags for both kids and women. So everybody can get a
useful drawstring bag with toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.

My church collects toiletries for the local battered women's shelter!
When any of us travel, we bring home the extra soap, shampoo, lotion,
etc., and toss it into a special bushel basket -- all new and unused,
of course. Lots of us also pick up the small tubes of toothpaste at
the store, and bring in the goodie bag things from the dentist's
office -- toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, etc. When the basket is full
we take it all to the shelter. It's not a huge thing for any of us to
do, but for the women who arrive at the shelter with nothing but the
clothes on their backs, they get their own soap, shampoo, etc.
