Default which batting???

Make sure to follow the minimum quilting requirements that are printed on
the batting packages. You don't want the batting to shift or come apart.
Some battings allow lots of space between quilting lines, while others do
not.

Hi everyone

This subject has probably been covered in depth before, but since I am
still quite new to the group, I wasn't a member then!

Which batting do you all prefer?

And which batting do you recommend that I use?

I like my quilts to be very puffy, with lots of loft, but, at the same
time, I like the batting to be soft and cuddly, wam but not heavy. So
far in the quilts I've made, I've used Fairfield's extra loft (doubled
over to make a double layer), and a batting with a loft of
approximately 1", that feels very very soft, with a sort of layer on
top (it's the batting we have in class; NO IDEA what brand or name or
whatever; it's very very soft). Yesterday I made a first (and though I
say it myself, very successful) attempt at quilt as you go following
the directions in the Marti Michell book Weekend log cabin quilts and
for this experiment I used a piece of select loft dream poly from
Quilter's dream that I had lying around. And that feels so nice!!!

Questions:

1. can the dream poly be layered, using two or more layers, or would
this make it too heavy and therefore too hard to quilt?

2. Can cotton battings be layered to make them thicker?

any other help/advice/recommendation is greatly appreciated

Claudia
