Default Uneven strands of floss

Has anyone ever had a skein of floss where some of the strands are of uneven
thickness? I have a skein of DMC 939 and one strand is at least a third
thicker than the other 5. I thought it felt different as I stitched with it
and then really saw the difference when I used a second strand! I had a bit
of frogging to do! This is the first time I've ever had that happen. Some
colors are thinner than others, probably due to the dyeing process, but the
strands are always the same within the skein.
