featherweight - found one
So this last weekend, DH and I were in a town on the Mosel river in
Germany and between swilling wine and eating German food at a fest, I wandered into an antique store. There on the floor sitting on its case was a featherweight it was made in Canada, with its manual clearly in several languages and all of the assorted feet you might need to go with it. Cost 180 euros. ($270 US) Did I buy it? Well, no I did not. DH told me to go in and talk him down, it was covered with dust so it had been there a while So I could have gotten it for cheaper. I thought I would think about it. the chance of someone buying it this week is rather remote...we go back to that area again this weekend...I'm thinking... Jean in cold and rainy Metz |

See, if it were me, it would be gone when I went back and I would then
be convinced that it was the best Featherweight ever, and I would never find another one which was a better deal. |

Tina,
good point, and I thought of that. still thinking. Are you still looking for one? I do have a question for Roberta in Germany...Could you look at the motor on your machine and tell me what it is rated? the one at the antique store motor was labelled 120volts/60 hz but it had a 220 plug. I am confused and like I said, it was made in Canada On Sep 3, 3:03*pm, TinaR wrote: See, if it were me, it would be gone when I went back and I would then be convinced that it was the best Featherweight ever, and I would never find another one which was a better deal. |

Boy o boy, do you ever have a lucky streak!
My FW motor says 120 volts, 50-60 hz, uses ac or dc, bless its little heart. I run it on a transformer. So you'd best ask the store person to plug it in for a test drive before buying. And if smoke comes out, well, then you'll know. Roberta in D On Wed, 3 Sep 2008 07:27:16 -0700 (PDT), jeanga6 wrote: Tina, good point, and I thought of that. still thinking. now wouldn't that be interesting. since the machine clearly has an
european plug. I might need to go back and check this one out... Roberta, is yours a US or Canada made? Jean On Sep 3, 5:19*pm, Roberta Roberta@Home wrote: Boy o boy, do you ever have a lucky streak! No, Jean, I took the plunge and got a brand new machine last week. My
machine budget is GONE. |

AFAIK it's US made. (DD1 bought it on Ebay as a gift for me, and IIRC
she mentioned it came from Colorado.) Roberta in D On Wed, 3 Sep 2008 11:14:07 -0700 (PDT), jeanga6 wrote: now wouldn't that be interesting. since the machine clearly has an european plug. Thanks Roberta,
I won't get to it this weekend. It is a rainy weekend and not worth the drive to Germany for a fest in the rain. So instead I am staying put in France and DH and I are going to go out for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, but the store will be closed so I won't be able to make the drive back to it. Jean in Metz On Sep 4, 1:47*pm, Roberta Roberta@Home wrote: AFAIK it's US made.
