Quilting Software ...
Good Morning ...
I sure would appreciate your advice regarding quilting software. My wife is now 'into' quilting, and I would like to purchase quilting software to assist in her efforts. Your advice, as quilters, will sure make my task easier, as you have been down that road, and have used quilting software ... be them beginner, or advanced, programs. Thank you for your consideration & time ... Jim Hughes |

Jim,
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the programs put out by The Electric Quilt Company. I'd start with "EQ5" and a couple of the books that complement it. "Block Base" is a great resource for historical as well as contemporary blocks. Then if she gets into paper piecing, the "Sew Precise" programs are useful. Check out the Electric Quilt website and peruse all the information there. We may get you hooked too! http://www.electricquilt.com Kathyl remove "nospam-" before mchsi http://community.webshots.com/user/kathylquiltz "Jim Hughes" wrote in message ... Good Morning ... I tried EQ....whatever..... some years ago and it didn't thrill me. No doubt
all the quilt software has improved dramatically since then, but this is not how I make quilts. You might want to check with your wife, or find a trial program so she can see if this will be really helpful or just a clever toy to play with for a few weeks to make you feel good. My loved one is eager to provide me with software, he has entered nerdvana, but really the only software I want is woven out of cotton! Roberta in D "Jim Hughes" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... I don't EQ very often to design, but it's nice to know I can. However I do
love skimming through Block Base to see the variety of quilt blocks. I have used all my programs at one time or another to help design, print or research block. But I do agree that Jim should check with his wife as to how she would use quilting software. "Roberta Zollner" wrote in message ... i have eq4 but pine for eq5.
i so love playing with it. now i'm wanting to do a row by row and have to figure out how to in eq4. i'd bet my bottom dollar that its real easy in eq5. oh well. perhaps i'll have to upgrade soon, eh. oh dear! but will i then also need all those other programs eq sells. how about the Dear Jane CD as well. then theres a new Baltimore CD out now too iirc. oh dear, the decisions one must make. jeanne -- san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots "hfw" wrote ... I like using EQ5. It is easy to use and not expensive. Also, there are
other programs that plug into it that you can get for about 20.00-30.00 each, like Sew Precise. My granddaughter who is 10 has used my EQ5 to design her own quilt. i just was perusing yet again the eq site and i see they've got a 'free'
embroidery CD for those who are registered owners of eq5 or who buy eq5, they add the CD in with your order. only pay for the shipping otherwise, $4, cheap as chips imo. looks pretty cool, specially if you have an embroidery function on your sewing machine. i dont but i love doing applique so when i get eq5 i'll grab that one as well. those designs would work for applique as well. jeanne NAYY -- san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots |

I just ordered it! You don't get the actual designs, you get images of them,
but you can preview your quilt with those images and change the colors and all! Thanks for the head's up. I love my EQ5...and my embroidery machine!
