Default Treadles on SQ 1/20/05

Heads up, you sleepy heads on the NA sunset coast!
Today's Simply Quilts show featured Treadle SM. the
guest (Donna Something?) explained how to clean and
restore the SM. She demonstrated how she quilts on the
treadle. She even taught how to make ruffles on it. Way
cool. If you hurry you might catch the show.

www.treadleon.net just about anything you could ever want to know about
treadles. They have a great group/list, too! Kate could probably tell you
more, I've only been on it for three weeks now...

Brilliant group, as friendly and helpful as here. I got lots of
excellent advice about my 15-88. And someone here in the UK has found
me a Lotus pattern face plate for my Spinning Jenny!

I don't post often, but they are always wonderful when I do.

Do pop over to my web site and visit my machines.

We saw it here in Mississippi, Pat. Wasn't that a great show? Polly

I only have 9 of my own... The little gold one, the Model 12, and the
two Harris machines are 'guests' and belong to friends. The Lotus
treadle has been rehomed, as was always the intention, and the Elna
Lotus now lives with the lady who gave me the Lotus treadle and the
Featherweight. I'm looking for an Elna Lotus like that for myself.

There are fellow Treadle On folk with HUNDREDS of machines!

If I had that many machines, I wouldn't need to worry about my husband's
face... it would be misssing along with the rest of him.

Sort of like my answer of "How do you think I'd look without my
mustache?" I answer, "Lonely."

What I'd love to know is WHERE people keep so many SM,
especially those in cabinets. My house is not small,
and there are only two of us home now. Even so, I do
not know where I'd place more cabinets SM. I have two
already. I could fit one in the guest room, but I was
thinking of adding a stash cabinet to that corner. My
Quilting Studio is across the hall from GR, so that
could be Stash Annex. G

Any place you now have a hall stand, bedside table, coffee table is a
potential treadle space. Remove the dinging table and replace with 6-8
treadles... You can even out the surface with a large plywood top.
Makes a good cutting table too.

Just a few ideas that have cropped up on Treadle on...

erm... one 1940's White is in the guest room under the window - makes a good
spot to hold suitcases, and the cabinet blends in with G'mas furniture...
the other White is DH's night stand.... G'ma's singer and cabinet are in the
living room against a wall holding up some photos and lookin nice....
the Janome is on a table in the studio where it gets used and the heavy
green Kenmore is under the table where the Janome is, waiting for a table of
it's own so the kiddos can use it next to me....
