Default Tour the Pottery Capital of the United States with Out & About

As part of our back to school issue, we would like to highlight a fun
idea for a stress-free, end of summer fling. This is a smart and easy
way to "run away from home " and have a great time with some of your
friends or your family.
Out of the Ordinary.. Out and About Tours provides a unique "spin " on
shopping in Seagrove by Lisa Jackson
Roger Brittingham grew up in the Seagrove area and his roots gave him
an understanding of both the history and cultural mix found among the
people who live in this small town. His career background began as a
graphic artist, but in 1998, Brittingham's first idea for Out and
About Tours came as a result of a need to assist visitors in finding
their way around the area in
search of pottery .One of the biggest scheduled events that takes
place in Seagrove is the Pottery Festival. This attraction draws
crowds of approximately 20,000 or more people, all wanting to locate
their shops of special interests. Although maps and guides are
provided for visitors with
the location of the pottery shops, they do not list the different
styles that are available by the various potters. With over 100
pottery shops found within a 20 mile radius, Out and About Tours
provides a simple solution to what can be an overwhelming dilemma.
Brittingham has educated himself in every aspect of the pottery
business and has learned the importance of providing a friendly,
homespun service. The Out and About Tour company offers a variety of
guided tours to choose
from, in addition to custom tours that will accommodate special
interests
from visitors. As part of the tour package, everyone has the
opportunity to sample home-baked goodies that Roger's wife Julie has
prepared herself
The rising popularity of Brittingham's Out and About Tours is found in
articles highlighted in both Our State magazine and the Washington
Post.
Out-of-town visitors in search of traditional to contemporary pottery
have made the small community of Seagrove a tourist attraction.
If you're planning a fun-filled excursion for a group of people or
simply you and your spouse, we suggest Out and About Tours.
Brittingham's service provides a stress- free day trip that encourages
the customer to relax and
enjoy a unique experience in shopping Seagrove's well known pottery
shops. Tours are available every day except Sunday. For more
information call (910) 428-8904 or visit www.clayseeker.com.
