Yarn Doily
Has anyone ever made a doily or a table runner for a coffee table out of
yarn? I am not able to crochet well enough using crochet cotton and those small needles. I was wondering how it would look. If you haven't, maybe you can give me your opinions. Would it look better if I used sport weight or worsted weight yarn. And should I use a filet pattern or maybe a shell pattern? At this point, I am leaning towards a filet pattern. Any ideas ( free patterns) would be appreciated greatly. Seaspray |

Nora makes some beautiful doilies and I think she uses that cotton yarn
that dishcloths are made of. Carol Ann |

Nora has... any thread pattern will work, just size up your hook! My scanner just decided to act up, otherwise I'd scan the beautiful one my mom made before she broke her hand and wrist... I'd recommend sport weight rather than worsted weight, since worsted weight is thick and makes a better mat than a doily. If you intend to put something on it, such as a vase or centerpiece or serving dish, a flat pattern is smoother than a lumpy one. Filet sounds nice. =Tamar |
