...... I am torn, but definitely
leaning towards this one:

http://www.liards.com/.sc/ms/dd/1075...97/BELL%20PULL
%20HARDWARE ..........

I'll have to agree -- I like that one the best also. It sort of reiterates
the bottom hardanger heart design! The other one I like -- not as ornate but
still nice is here --
http://www.liards.com/.sc/ms/dd/1075...92/BELL%20PULL
%20HARDWARE .......
It's been ages since I ordered anything from Liards. I had great service
and the merchandise was well worth the $$ paid. Did you note that you will be
getting TWO sets of bellpull hardware for the $$$? Great deal IMNSHO!

OK -- what do you have in mind for this fabric? Any thoughts? Will you do
the backing in a Christmas fabric? Some are still available on sale REALLY
cheap at Joanns!!
Are there any metallic fibers used in the sampler? I have a lining
suggestion but, not having seen the finished piece in person, I don't know if
it would be to outre' :-))! Would lame' in an appropriate color work? I
probably would not have thought of this except that a friend told me all about
a framed bargello type piece that she saw in an LNS in FL that was backed with
*aluminum foil* and looked truly exquisite! She was so impressed with the
finished piece that she bought me the chart and ALL the materials as my b-day
gift!!! There isn't any pulled work in this piece but the canvas (a lovely
lilac shade) is a fairly low count so the holes are big and you can see through
them quite easily.
I don't know how much you sew but if it's not a lot and you aren't in the
fabric store often, don't let them brow beat you! You go get bolts of all the
fabrics you think might work, lay them out on one end of the cutting table and
just spend as much time as you want comparing!!!
OOO -- this is the really fun part -- you get to be creative and make the
decisions as to the final look of the piece. I have been doing some finish
work (***really*** cute little pillows) for Poetta at Ladybug Lane. She tells
me if she has a color preference for the ruffle on the pillows and then turns
me loose to "do my thing" :-))! It is so much fun to get creative and find
just the *right* backing and ruffle fabrics and cording that will enhance the
design and make it sing!
Speaking of cording, there is one out that is stupendous and might work for
your piece -- I used it on the last two pillows for Ladybug Lane. It comes in
plain cording and flanged and it is 3 different colors of cord twisted
together. I used the lilac - green - cream on one pillow and the blue - yellow
- cream on another. I know there is a red - green - white made and it *might*
work. If you do decide to use cording, be sure to check in the upholstery
section a well as the regular trim section of the fabric store. I have a
terrible time fiding suitable cording at Joanns and have gotten most of the
stuff I use at either Hobby Lobby or one of the home dec fabric stores in the
area!
OK -- enough raving from MOI. Keep us posted on what you finally decide on

Well! I guess I know where to go when I need ideas on how to finish
mine (done with the light pinks and teals) whenever I get it done! ))))

Wow, TM! You have sooooo many ideas I'm not even going to ask DM. She's
the one that would brow beat me. I don't think I'll necessarily choose a
Christmas fabric - it wouldn't be seen anyways. I was leaning towards red,
but now I'm wondering about gold... There is a small amount of metallic
braid, so I could run with that.

I'll definitely need to go into the store and do a look-see. I might get
out today - up early and car is warmed up due to DH being in the hospital
overnight with his first kidney stone ever.

I wish I had a picture of mine to share, but I lost it in a hard drive crash,
and this was a Christmas gift sigh.

I did the shorter version in the same colors you used.

I rolled all of the edges under and did a simple hem. (I did mine on cream
evenweave.) I folded the bottom edges in so that they came to a point just
below the bottom of the last row of stitching.

Then I found a gorgeous peice of velvet that matched the red/burgundies (about
815, I think). I cut two peices of this that were about 2 inches wider than
the stitched peice on each vertical side and about a total of 8 or 9 inches
longer than the stitched peice, and came to the same point as the stitched
peice. I sewed these right sides together and turned them so that I had velvet
both on front and back.

I folded the top part over, and attached it to the top of the stitching,
pressed the seem open and ran a line of top stitching on the velvet just above
the stitched peice. This made a pocket, and I used a 12 inch peice of dowel
with a pair of turned ends that I bought in AC Moore.

I hung it using a peice of purchased cording that was the same color
red/burgundy, a deep green that picked up the greens in the peice and gold. I
bought size 5 pearl cotton in the same colors, and made a tassel to hang on the
bottom end.

This was actually all a grand experiment, as I knew what kind of look I wanted,
but didn't have a pattern to work from.

That's probably clear as mud, but it's stunning if I do say so myself. G I
have to call the friend I gave it to and ask her to take a picture for me.
