Does anyone know if a toyota KR501 ribber fits the KS950? The KR501
usually goes with the KS901. |

Hi,
I don't know for sure, but the KR506 definitely fits the KS901 and also fits the KR950 I believe. So all combinations should be okay. -- Sue W in East Anglia, UK "sally" wrote in message ups.com... Does anyone know if a toyota KR501 ribber fits the KS950? The KR501 usually goes with the KS901. |

But after looking on Newton's site, I think that the 950 requires the 506 ribber. The main bed needles on the 950 are much finer than those on the 901 because of the way the lace carriage works. The needles had to be more easily bent. It follows that the ribber needles might be finer, too. You could call Newton's to find out for sure. http://www.newtons.com/toyota_elna.htm -- Joanne @ stitches @ singerlady.reno.nv.us http://bernardschopen.tripod.com/ Life is about the journey, not about the destination. |

Right, i've read at various sellers sites that say the newer KR506
retrofit the older KS901, but after much fiddling, I believe that the older KR501 does NOT fit the newer KS950. Pogonip,
I believe that you're right. They don't fit! The problem is the metal attachment of the ribber. The underbelly of this metal attachment, the part that slides in the "valley" between the two machines is just a hair to big. The needles hit the metal rather than sliding smoothly over them. After many ruined needles and much insane stubborn will, i made it work by fiddling with with the screws that have some room left probably for user to fine tune, AND making the metal attachment screw in a few millimeters forward. You know how their are two pegs and holes to guide you to the proper sitting position for the attachment before you screw it in tight? WEll, the metal sits forward and on TOP Of the metal peg. This makes the shelves sit higher, and more forward giving the needles that fraction more space. It doesn't work GREAT, but it works. I wouldn't do it on purpose or as 'second best' but in an emergency situation. Pogonip wrote: I have one, but can't get to it to see what the ribber is.
