Oh Sandy, that is absolutely stunning! I'm so glad you decided on the
blue thread for quilting. Those gorgeous feathers show up so nicely
and your SS will absolutely love this quilt. I know *I* do -- not
sure if I could have parted with it. Wonderful job and thanks for
sharing. WOW!

Denise in Ontario, Canada

Thanks, Denise! I didn't originally plan to give this one away, but it
sort of asked to go.... Gosh -- it's not as though I beat it or
anything, either!

No, the darn pipes are winning. I may not be able to take a shower in the

How awful, Karen! If it weren't for your DH not being movable, I'd
suggest you come here for a bit of warmth and some R&R! Best of luck
getting everything thawed.

Nice try, Diana. LOL! Her name is Margi, though.

It's been so long since we chatted...It's Marci - short for Marcella :-)

Great job on the quilt.

The real DSS will be so happy with that surprise.

marcella

LOL! Your effort is duly noted, Marcella.

If she doesn't, for some strange reason, my birthday is coming up.

I'll keep that in mind, Jo. However, she's admired my quilts in the
past, though she's never asked for one. Still, she thinks I'm an artist
(who am I to disabuse her??), so I do think she'll like the quilt.

Sunday night I finished another quilt, and today I took pics and put
them on my site at http://home.earthlink.net/~sfoster1/sampler.html
(at the bottom of the page). This is one that started out to be a block
challenge in the online francophone group I belong to, but it became
something of a nightmare when I realized that every block was a wildly
different size, varying from 8" to 13". I'd made all of them myself, but
I hadn't redrafted the patterns to a standard size first. Setting them
together was the real challenge. However, a Setting Solutions class
with Sharyn Craig last summer solved my problems (she had me remake most
of the blocks to get them to a uniform size -- some were cut down,
others had stuff added to make them larger), and now the quilting,
binding and label are all in done. This one is going to my step-sister
-- the one who's taking me to China in March. She doesn't know about it
yet. g I'm calling it Réussite, since it's a success story ("réussite"
means "success" in French) I didn't think was going to happen.

One little postscript: Sharyn Craig will be teaching a couple of classes
here in LV this weekend, and I'm planning to show her the finished quilt
before mailing it to my DSS -- I have to prove I could do it! G
