Edinburgh Quilt Shops

It was my birthday on Friday and my DH has surprised me with a trip to
Edinburgh. We are flying up on Thursday for a long weekend so I need to know if
there are any LQS's worth visiting. We will be staying very central ( Princes
Street) and we wont have a car.......

I personally have never been there - I'm always on a flying visit to
the University library or archives or whatever, and finish when the
shops are closed. You could email them and ask how close they are to
Princes Street.
I'm not working on Saturday the 22nd, so if you'd like me to come
down to Edinburgh to meet you, just say the word!

Hi,

There's a branch of John Lewis in the St James centre which is at one end of
Princes St, but they don't specialise in quilting stuff. There's also "the
embroidery shop" in William Street at the west end, but I think they're also
a general needlecraft shop and not specifically quilting.

Oh I almost forgot Jenners!

Jenners is Edinburgh's answer to Harrods and is well worth a browse around.
If I remember correctly they have a haberdashery/fabric section on the lower
ground floor.

Does Edinburgh still have Kings Fabrics? They closed the branches
in Newcastle years ago. what a shame

there used to be one at Tollcross I think, but we're going back about 10
years. Not sure if it's still there. There's one in Oxford though so it's
not like the whole chain has closed.

Not sure about Edinburgh, but there are Kings Fabrics in Dundee and
Glasgow.... Come to Dundee, Flossy, and I'll give you "the tour"!
