Tina:
Last month, at MAQF, I bought a 1/4" foot with a guide (like a rudder) on the side. It is FANTASTIC! I paid about $25.00 and it was worth every penny. I had purchased a similar foot for Pfilomina Pfaff, at the recommendation of one of our RCTQ gang (probably Jennell,) so I knew it was a good thing. I also recommend the reprinted manuals by Nancy Johnson Srebro, as they contain lots of good information in addition to the basic manual. NAYY. Good luck with your lovely new FW, PAT in VA/USA "TinaR" wrote in message ... I got to sew a little bit on it last night (I don't want to use it much until I get some sewing machine oil) and I can finally understand why people are so attached to these machines. I've had Bernina's before, and thought they made a perfect straight stitch, but this FW just blows them away. The stitch is tight, the tension is perfect, it is wicked fast, and it sews so STRAIGHT. That narrow feed dog really, really makes a difference. I got a Little Foot for it, and the practice seams I made were just so ridiculously perfect. |

My Janome has one of those, and I don't like it because when you are
doing anything other than joining two pieces together it has a hard time going over the "bumps". We'll see how I like the little foot on the FW. I really like the regular foot on the FW, but then I need some way of telling where 1/4 is! That is a beauty of a FW Tina. Great gift. There are several
1/4" feet around once you get to looking. One will work just right for you. I don't have the little foot but there is a similar one made (maybe by alphasew) that I like. I bet most sewing machine shops have several types. Happy stitching on that new machine! I have been wanting a Featherweight for the longest time, and when I started seeing ones painted other colors, I decided that was exactly what I wanted for my 50th birthday (which was last year....) I found someone to restore and paint one for me, and it arrived today: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...03032890ZmkSin I love it - haven't had a chance to sew with it yet, but it sure is pretty! It was made the year my parents got married - 1948. Oh my, I've never seen a purple sewing machine before. What a treat! Many congrats on your new machine, Tina. :-) Best regards, Michelle in NV http://community.webshots.com/users/desert_quilter |

I have both and the design of the pfaff foot is much more "rocker" style
and you don't get the bump. It even works well when you have pins sticking out to the right. There is also one for Vikings.
