Default Glaze retouching

I did a similar thing once...glazed a teapot and held on to the teapot's
handle while glazing the body. The teapot was glazed with a sandstone
colour. When fired to cone 06, the handle came out pinkish. All I did was
reglaze the handle and refire to cone 05; it came out perfect. The glaze
goes on with a little bit of difficulty, but it went on OK. If your glaze is
slicking off or beading, I would suggest lightly sanding before applying the
glaze.

Good luck,
Suzan

Last time I glazed I stupidly used hand cream to protect my hands, which

of
course acted like a wax resist on the point of contact between fingers and
pot. I have heard that gum arabic can be added to ordinary glaze to allow
it to stick to glaze-fired pots. Can anyone offer any advice please?
Steve Powell.
