Quilt shops in Oklahoma?
Is anyone here from Oklahoma? What do you do here in Oklahoma for quilting
inspiration? I am looking for quilt shops in central OK. I moved here from CA. in August last year and it seems like I'm alone here on a quilter's island. I miss my quilting friends. I miss the weekly stitching/crafting meetings at Laurie G's house (Hi Laurie) I know I can order supplies thru catalogs and online, but I want to walk thu rows of quilt fabrics and quilting books and patterns. I wan't to touch the fabrics and see them in person. I want to sit around sewing with other quilters and go to quit shows. Aren't there big quilt shows in Texas and Kentucky (Paducah?) every year? Where can I get information about them? Thanks Karen |

learning to do handcraft in the last year but i visit the shops here I get the opportunity just to look around or for S.E.X.s Jan wrote: "Karen Garza" wrote in : Is anyone here from Oklahoma? Like a major city you might be close to? Tulsa has a ton of stores and large show every year. Same with Oklahoma City. There is Green Country Quilters Guild somewhere there. And a weekly meetin at Laurie G's house?? Heck I would miss that too and I've never even been to it vbg -- Jan RCTQ Coffee Diva |

Quilt shops in Oklahoma?
Hi Marcella
Thank you for your response. Why does it seem so strange? Have you ever lived in OK? Yes, I have looked for something and not been able to find it. Sometimes I am looking for a fabric to go in a quilt and I have an idea in mind about what I am looking for. Yesterday I went looking for backing fabric for a baby quilt. I couldn't find what I wanted so I ended up piecing a backing together. I am in Blanchard. The nearest big city is Oklahoma City. It is about a 40 minute drive to down town OKC. There is a very small quilt shop in Norman, which is about 20 minutes away. The next closest one is in OKC. Then Hennessey. That's a fairly new shop, but they have lots of fabrics there. That one is 88 miles away. Then Mapquest shows Enid - 127 miles away Tulsa - 132 miles away Broken rrow - 143 miles away Newkirk - 145 miles away Tahlequah - 189 miles away Thank you very much for the link to the quilt guilds. I see that there are a few within an hour's drive of me. I will definitely check them out :-) Karen "Marcella Peek" wrote in message ... Quilt shops in Oklahoma?
Howdy Jan
I am in Blanchard OK. About 40 minutes south of down town OKC. Unfortunately, Tulsa is two hours away. Maybe I am just spoiled from being in CA. I am hoping that if I joiin a quilt guild I will be able to find out where more quilt shops are. Maybe I just haven't given it enough time here. Yeah, I think I really must be spoiled. Quilt shops in Oklahoma?
Living in the wide open spaces has its advantages and disadvantages. Clean
air, shorter job commutes vs. long distances between quilt shops and no friends to road trip with yet. Bummer. Keep trying and you'll hook up with someone with your interests. I've heard (and experienced) that it takes about two years to get comfortable after a move. Good luck! You have this cyberguild to hang with in the meantime. KJ "Karen Garza" wrote in message ...
