Default Color Changes in Lavendar & Lace Celtic Designs

A friend recently saw a picture in an English magazine advertising Marilyn
Leavitt-Imblum's (or Lavendar & Lace) Celtic Summer and Celtic Autumn in
different colors other than the ones designed by Marilyn. Number 1 - is this
legal? I hope Marilyn knows about it. I wouldn't want it to be an infringement
on her copyright. Number 2 - are the keys for these color changes available in
the U.S.? If so, where. She has already purchased the graphs here and does
not want to have to order them from England again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have gone to the L&L site but cannot
fnid a way to contact MLI. And I can't access her newsgroup. Please direct
your response to me at my e-mail address as I'm not sure I can access this
newsgroup again either. Thanks so much.

There is absolutely no infringement of copyright making changes to a
pattern. I have no idea whether other keys are available. HTH.

These variations have been advertised for months in various British
magazines, and given MLI's vigilance in pursing any infringements of her
rights (not a criticism of her, just an observation) I am sure she would
have stopped them if there was a problem.
Personally, I think the colour variations are much more attractive, and
more seasonal looking, than the originals.

I do know that people have done their own conversions. And Marilyn has
praised them on their conversions.
Ezboards has a board for just Lavender and Lace patterns :

Look under the stitch alongs sections (Celtic ladies).. You can read it
without registering.

I agree, at least for the fall design. If we're talking about the LeisureCraft
Tewkesbury site, I bought my Summer chart and materials from them and got good
service, btw.

I do know that MLI does encourage folks to design their own color variations of
her designs - she has a section for it on her yahoogroups site. I don't know
for certain that the Tewkesbury site has her permission to do it, but like the
previous poster said, I bet they do 'cause she's very zealous about copyright
infringement.
