Default My Odd (but cool) dream

HELL YEAH!

As I mentioned before, I have very detailed, very vivid dreams. I'm
having a horrible sleeping night thanks to Tropical Storm Frances
(the low pressure and humidity greatly increases my pain). This
dream more than makes up for the wakefulness I've had the rest of the
night.

Here's the dream:

I'm sitting on a bench in some institutional type building. The
lower part of the walls is painted dark brown, and the upper part is
a color that once was cream. The linoleum is in brown and green
squares, and has been waxed a million times. The hall is fairly dim,
since half the fluorescent bulbs are out. I'm bored out of my
sneakers, waiting for something.

My bench is next to a door, and I'm trying desperately to eavesdrop
on whatever is going on behind the door. I can hear muffled voices,
one of them Manda's, but I cannot make out what's being said. Still
that doesn't keep me from trying. I hear footsteps coming near the
door, so I "casually" plant my butt back on the bench and pretend to
be totally innocent.

The door opens, and a professor-type says, "Let me be the first to
congratulate you, Dr. Varraso."

He and Manda shake hands, and I burst into tears. I woke up
overjoyed, with tears running down my face. Might only be a dream,
but it was very, very cool.

Rock on Kathy. I have lots of dreams and most of them tell me what's
happening in the future. When I happen upon said situation later I have
dejavu. It's weird. I hope this means Manda is on her way to doctorate.

A dream? Maybe a premonition?

I knew I liked that girl. Whatever she does I'm sure she'll do it to make
the world a better place just like she is already doing. She has such a
kind heart.

From your fingers to God's ears. Manda has wanted to get a PhD. in a
science field since she was four years old. Her goal has been
astronomy for the past two years, but it was archaeology before that
- who knows what it will be as she learns more.

The deal is that if she gets into whatever program, and maintains her
grades, Bob and I will do whatever is necessary to pay for it.
(There are a few other conditions, but that's the main one)

What I think is cool is that she's not looking for a big money
career, but wants to do something to improve the human condition.
Manda has big ideas about adapting space program technology to solve
problems here on Earth. Works for me.
