Comprehensive library?

Is there a public or research library that has large collection of
periodicals and books on textiles? I could find some research
libraries that had books and periodicals on textiles in manufacturing.
The Textile Museum's library in Washington, DC doesn't allow for
public access and it has a more scholarly & historical focus than I am
looking for. I am looking for a craft-textile library. Cooper-Hewitt
library is a better match, but one can't search for "shadow weaving" or
"weaving,shadow" Books and periodicals on knitting are limited.
