Default using women cable cardigan pattern for a man

I noticed that this pattern has a lot of decreasing in the sides of the left
and right fronts. It was a woman's pattern. Would they have decreased the
same on the sides of a man's cardigan in a pattern? Help please !

The only difference should be buttons or buttonholes on which side of the
opening band, I would think.
