Gluing glass to metal
Could anyone offer advice on the following? I have beach glass I have
collected and would love to glue some metal clasps on them for necklaces and earrings. Can someone suggest what the best product would be to use, and what steps I should take to ensure a good bond. Very much appreciated. MS |

This is from the McMaster Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/) catalogue (page 3168): High Peel Resistance- Semi-flexible adhesive has high peel and shear strength. Bonds rubber, leather, china, Garolite (phenolic laminates), and urethane. Perfect for auto repairs such as aftermarket replacement mirrors. I.e. the kind of adhesive that bonds rear view mirrors to windshields. Also check www.loctite.com And http://www.micro-tools.com/Merchant2/adhesives.htm You really should figure out how to google. You may have heard of it. 5 minutes is all it takes. Abrasha http://www.abrasha.com |

I think what you're calling clasps is what we call bails, and you'd want a leaf bail. -- Marilee J. Layman |
