Default Floor Stand

I am very satisfied with my Gripit floor stand. *(After
Santa Claus bought it for me, he stained and varnished it - it comes as
finely sanded hardwood - so that it looks like a piece of furniture and
therefore can be used in the living room without looking like "tools").

I do believe the Gripit is a thing of the past. I need a replacement
piece for mine and I think I'm out of luck on that. The last time
there was an update on their website was 2008 and all the links on the
one page I can find are broken.

Only took me twelve years to discover the weak point in the design of
my stand. I guess it had a good run.

You might want to take a look at the floor stands
http://stitchaway.com/order-product-C501-01.html. IIRC I'm one of a few
North American companies left that still makes quality floor stands for
needlework. Last time I looked there were only two companies left in Canada
(Stitch Away being one) and two companies in the United States manufacturing
quality frames for holding fabric for needlework. Some of our quality frames
are less expensive than a large Pizza with three toppings and customers
still complain about price -go figure! LOL

Don't back stitch to email, just stitchit.

I have this and use it a lot. After I got mine, my mom tried it and
gave me a choice - get her one or discover mine had vanished! You can
guess what she got for her birhtday

I have a friend who is looking for a floor stand. We love mine, but
no one seems to know what make/model it is; even the ladies at my LNS
were stumped. So I have two questions:

1) can anyone identify this? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...&id=1044404255

and

2) if not, what floor stand(s) do you recommend? It should be sturdy
and pretty easy to use/adjust I think.

TIA!
