Printing on glass
Help!
This is a little off topic. Does anyone out there know of a portable printer that can print to glass. The glass would need to be optical quality. The image would need to be heat and UV resistant. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, -- Francis R. Vesey Senior Electro-Mechanical Designer Sky-Skan, Inc. 51 Lake Street Nashua, NH 03060-4513 603-880-8500 Phone 603-882-6522 Fax |

Printing on glass
best bet may be to use silk screen. Mix powdered glass (available from glass
blowers suppliers) with whatever medium works best such as gum arabic, and squeegee onto glass through the screen. It works pretty well for me. You can use special photo sensitive films to create the screens. Then use a kiln to 'cook'(fuse) the powdered glass onto the glass. m "Francis R. Vesey" wrote in message ... Help! Would it be the same thing over and over like a trade mark or emblem? If not, "portable" is probably going to be a problem. How big? Could it be acid etched or does it need to be a pigment? More info would help. -- Jack bobo1148atxmissiondotcom http://www.glassartguild.com/gallery/jack_bowman |

Vesey Senior Electro-Mechanical Designer Sky-Skan, Inc. 51 Lake Street Nashua, NH 03060-4513 603-880-8500 Phone 603-882-6522 Fax Specialty advertising firms print logos and the like on just about any kind and shape of surface. I think they call one of the machines a "pad printer", that's what they use to print logos on golf balls. Exactly what do you mean by "optical quality" glass? Are you talking about the glass that would be used in photographic applications or in astronomy? Maybe a bit more specific information from you would help us to help you with the problem. |
