?s re fabric printing
I know we have talked at length about ways to print on your own fabric and
what to use to set it and on and on and on.... I need to know, of the brands that you can buy the pre-treated sheets of fabric, ready to be fed thru the printer.... which brand(s) have you all used and been really happy with. And why were you so happy? Was it the feel of the fabric? Ease of printing? True colors? Lasting colors? Washability (is that a word?)? I have 2 projects where i can use this stuff. I've lost all the info i gathered at the quilt festival last year One project is for a quilt and the other is for a T-Shirt. So one will be washed gently, and not often and the other will get a lot of washings and more "wear" if you will. I will not likely use fusable stuff for either project. I have an HP 1120C printer if that makes any difference at all! Thanks for any input! Even if it is just "stay away from XXXXX brand" it will help! Kellie bergerk at sbcglobal dot net |

I took a class in Paducah from Caryl Bryer Fallert in which we used "Printed
Treasures" sheets. They came out beautifully. But Caryl uses "Bubble Jet Set" for all her printing projects. I have used BJS for my print projects and have been satisfied, but haven't had the outcome that Caryl has. I blame my printer more than the fabric prep. I keep hoping my printer will croak. Oh and I use the full size label sheets to back my fabric before printing. I never had consistent results with the ironing on freezer paper instructions. My printer feeds in a curve and I would get a bubble in the fabric that wouldn't print correctly. The label sheets have taken care of that. They are difficult to remove for the first time, but after that are reusable and easier to remove. I put my fabric on the label, then trim again to make sure there is no fabric overhang or sticky label area not covered. -- Kathyl remove "nospam-" before mchsi http://community.webshots.com/user/kathylquiltz "Kellie J. The only one that I use now is Printed Treasures. It works wonderfully, and
it feels good, it's not stiff like the other ones I have used. I have used June Taylor's fabric sheets, and did not like them at all. I have a HP 2210 all in one printer now. My old printer was also a HP. I have never had problems with the fabric sheets in either computer. Sherry Starr "Kellie J. Berger" wrote in message ... Kellie bergerk at sbcglobal dot net Kellie, I've done a little printing on fabric, and here's what I've come up with *for me*! You may find things a little different for you, of course. First, I used the June Tailor sheets for a couple of things. They print beautifully, but they're stiff. Forget every trying to do any sort of handwork on them (hand sewing a label, for instance, or hand quilting through them). I've also used the Printed Treasures, and they're *far* superior. They print well, and you can sew through them, even by hand. My favorite, though, remains Bubble Jet Set. It's not nearly as convenient, since you do have to pretreat the fabric, but the results are, IMHO, by far the best. *Really* soft fabric, nice printing. This all means that I use BJS when I have a larger number of things to print and it's worth the extra effort. When I only have one little thing (like a single label), I go ahead and use Printed Treasures for the convenience. Sandy,
Thank you so much for your info on fabric printing. I have done a little, but it was on June Taylor's and I wasn't impressed due to the stiffness of the fabric. My LQS has done stuff with the Bubble Jet Set, but I wasn't impressed with theirs either, the quality of the photos looked very grainy- like it had been washed several times. I had wondered whether it was the user or the product in that case. Is there a book that helps you to get the best quality printout? I've searched for the Printed Treasures sheets, but there is no one in OH that carries them, so my only source for them would be to order online. Merrystitch Looks like I'll have to give the Bubble Jet Set a trial run. Kellie, I've done a little printing on fabric, and here's what I've come up with *for me*!
