Default Hi there!

I just found this newsgroup today!
I'm an avid crocheter (Is this the right word?), and my best friend is a
really good knitter!
I'm starting to knit granny squares so that I can make a quilt for my baby.
I'm going to quilt the squares for my daughter.
Does anyone know of a good, quick, fairly easy granny square pattern? It
would be great if there were no hole in the middle as with most squares.
Any advice or patterns will be greatly appreciated and most likely used! I
want all the squares to be different.
Thanks!

Dear Lina,

Hi there and welcome to the group. Here is a great site for crocheted
squares. I know you said you wanted to knit them but maybe you could use
this in the future.

http://home.inreach.com/marthac/

This is the home page with links to other crochet pages on her site and
links as well. Some of the squares linked here are truly beautiful.

Happy Crafting and congrats on little Alena!

Lack of sleep huh? Been there done that LOL!!
Still miss it at times. Now I have to get my baby fix in stores where I can
make goofy faces at them and make them smile or flirt shamelessly with them

Then my husband walks up tells me NO MORE then proceeds to play with the
baby just like I was LOL!

Here's the site for 6 by 6 squares. Just in case you find time to join the
exchange when Alena is a wee bit older

Happy Crafting & go take a nap you deserve one!

If you're looking for afghan squares, try the Digital Granny.

http://www.digitalgranny.com/va/

If you're looking for squares with no center hole, you can find plenty of
them there, although I suppose they're not genuine granny squares if they
don't have a hole in the center.

If you want to knit some squares, try knitting sampler squares of different
stitches. There are several instructional books out there, but I can't
think of a specific one off the top of my head.

Good luck with the squares and the little one. :-)

Welcome Alena`s mom
I am just making a crochet Afghan , i started with one staright
rectangle ,,, white background and the Siluette of a cat in varigated
green , next i changed color went on crocheting with Bordoux , and am
working a pattern of the game xis mix drix ,,, the `lines ` i make in
yellow the [few] O / X in light blue , i decided that working in
stripes wil be easier for me ,,,, also sterted a second stripe [same
amount of base Stiches , red background and i will work the Hebrew
Aleph Beth into this one , assembeling the stripes will give the
impression that they are many patches sewn together , i already
prepared a pattern of a Heart [of course] another pattern of cat ..
I think this will solve your problem , don`t start the rectangles in
the middle start at bottom , and by cahnging color INDICATE as IF they
are separate parts ,,, will save you lots of sewing [ grinning ] !!!
ps the quickest one ,, don`t be ashamed , buy some wool cloth , cut
into sqaures , and crochet around them and assemble ,,, now baby is
warm and cosy you will have time to crochet in more leaisure the other
afghan .

Hello Lina!
Welcome to the group, and enjoy your days with your baby.
Here are a few links from Lion Brand, (I made them "shorter"
so they should be easier to "click" directly to)
Hope there is something you can use!
(There are more baby blankets at Lion Brand, but some with bigger holes.
