Default Janame serger question

I also posted this question over at alt.sewing. Tonight I went to Hancock
Fabrics because their sale starts tomorrow and I wanted to know exactly
which fabric I want to buy. I also looked at their Janome 3434. Since the
manager was starting to change the registers over to the sale prices, she
said I could go ahead and get what I want at the sale price. Hooray!!!
Janome for $189!! BUT it is SO VERY LOUD!!!! What can I do to make it
quiet? I placed a mouse pad under it, then added a pad of upholstery cloth.
Any other suggestions? If not, it will go back to the store in the morning,
: (
Thanks, Barbara in SC
