Has any any ever heard of this, or even tried it ?

I have just found some on ebay at a reasonable price ( 700m for AU
$4.60) but I have never heard of it before.... anyone else ?

I haven't tried it yet, but my HQ dealer is now stocking it. It's
supposed to be very slick and easy to use in any kind of machine
quilting application.

Here's what Bayside Quilting says about it: "Silco Solids Silco
Cotton is 40 wt. with a slick finish that allows it to slide through
your machine and into your quilts without a hassle. Our testers loved
it!! It comes in solid and variegated colors!"

I'll be curious to hear what you think?

When I was growing up it was Sylco thread which was the norm in the uk.

Got several bobbins of Sylco here in my cotton cabinet. It was made by J
Dewhurst's and Sons on the older bobbins and made in Great Britain..
Also they are wooden bobbins
Another bobbin with Dewhurst on says the English Sewing Ltd. Plastic
bobbin
The later ones are by Tootal and made in Sweden,
Shirley

As a brand name, Sylco has been around for about 100 years - literally!

Good basic cotton thread. But it won't be around for long: this month
they are bringing out the replacement, which, the folk who've seen it
(i.e. my local shop ladies) say is much better!

Drima is going too - and not before time! That too has been redesigned,
rebranded, and will be relaunched all new and better.

I can't wait!

sorry for not replying earlier but we have not had internet access for
over a week now we only have dialup which ties up the phone so I am
very restricted in my usage.

Thanks for the help everyone. I actually found that I have some Sylco
in ny thread box so when the net is up and running again properly I
will probably try one reel and see what I think.
